Blanton's Char No. 4 is a 2022 special release of Kentucky straight single barrel bourbon from Buffalo Trace, in a 75cl bottle. It is made to show the effect of char level, using barrels charred to the deepest standard level, No. 4.
The bourbon was aged in Warehouse H, the metal-clad warehouse at the distillery.
The nose combines honey, rye, dried fruit and vanilla with a deeper toasted oak note. The palate is full and rich, with concentrated caramel, vanilla and toasted oak alongside apricot, butter and pepper. The finish is long, with toffee and caramel.
