Broadbent 10 Year Old Sercial Madeira (75cl)

This is a 10 year old Sercial Madeira from Broadbent, a range begun in 1996 and inspired by Michael Broadbent, who called Madeira his desert island wine. The Sercial grapes are hand harvested, destemmed, crushed and pressed, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Fermentation is stopped after 8 to 10 days with neutral grape spirit to keep the desired sweetness. The wine then ages in French and American oak casks using the traditional canteiro system. It is deep amber in colour, with notes of caramel, dark chocolate and toffee. The palate is sweet, soft and richly textured, mellow yet strong in character.
