Broadbent Colheita 1999 Madeira (75cl)

This is a 1999 Colheita Madeira from Broadbent, a range begun in 1996 and inspired by Michael Broadbent's love of Madeira. It is made from Tinta Negra grown in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, Câmara de Lobos and São Vicente. The grapes were fermented on their skins in stainless steel, with neutral grape spirit added during fermentation to keep the desired sweetness. The wine was then aged in American and French oak casks in the traditional canteiro. It is a brilliant, medium deep amber, with aromas of raisins, walnut cake and sugar syrup. The sweetness is balanced by vibrant acidity, and the finish is long and complex, with toasted walnut.
