Port Charlotte 18 Year Old is a heavily peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Bruichladdich, in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled at the distillery on the Rhinns of Islay and matured for 18 years.
Port Charlotte is the distillery's heavily peated range, and this release sets its peat smoke against the softer, layered influence of long maturation in oak.
The nose brings deep peat smoke, sea spray, brine, dried citrus and toasted oak. On the palate it is rich and layered, with maritime smoke, barley sweetness, dark fruit and warm spice. The finish is long and smoky, with lingering peat, salt and gentle oak warmth.
