Buffalo Trace Kosher Straight Rye is a Kentucky rye whiskey made in Frankfort at 47% ABV (94 proof). It is produced with the Chicago Rabbinical Council and carries cRc kosher certification.
The rye is matured in barrels set aside for the distillery's kosher programme, which began with the cRc in 2010. Those barrels are managed under a kosher chain of custody, and the bottling lines are cleaned before each run. The first releases came in 2020, and a new one follows each year after Passover.
The nose brings rye spice, citrus peel and clove over oak and grain sweetness. The palate is warming and peppery, with citrus and baking spice, and the finish is long and spicy, with clove, citrus oils and oak.
