Bunnahabhain – 1998 Adelphi (70cl, 53.5%)

A 1998 Bunnahabhain from Islay, bottled by Adelphi as a single malt at 53.5% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery sits on the north-eastern corner of Islay, directly opposite Jura. It was built in 1881, and a long, curving road to the shore had to be laid first because the site was so isolated. The water comes from an underground spring, the Margadale river, and holds relatively little peat for Islay. Descendants of the founders owned the distillery until 2003.
