This is a 22 year old peated Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2020. It was finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks and bottled at cask strength, at 50% ABV.
It is a limited edition of 1,661 bottles. The peat shows as peppery smoke, set against a notable sweetness.
The nose offers sultanas, figs and dried fruit with sweet berries, balanced by peppery smoke. On the palate come roasted nuts, fig rolls, vanilla and caramel, with a sweet, layered texture that moves from sweet and fruity towards peppery smoke. The finish is peppery and sweet.
