Bushmills 16 Year Old is a triple-distilled Irish single malt from the Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The whiskey spends around 15 years in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks, then about nine months in port wine pipes. The port stage adds richness and a hint of ruby colour.
On the nose it is typically described as toasted nuts, dried fruit and sherry-soaked sultanas. The palate brings dark chocolate, praline, Christmas cake and plum, and the finish is long, with port wine, oak and leather.
