This is the 2023 edition of Classic of Islay, a single malt from Islay bottled at a cask-strength-style 56.1% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose combines strong oloroso sherry notes and stewed apricots with peat smoke, smoked meat and a touch of honey. On the palate, sweet vanilla leads into tobacco, peat and plenty of smoke with a little pepper, and the sherry is less pronounced than on the nose.
The finish is long and pleasant, with espresso coffee, a slight bitterness, smoke, seaweed and some leather.
