Clonakilty – Double Oak Finished Irish Whiskey (70cl)

Clonakilty Double Oak Finished is an Irish whiskey from the Scully family farm and distillery on Clonakilty Bay in West Cork. It is a blend first matured in ex-bourbon casks, then given a second maturation in virgin American oak and in shaved, toasted and re-charred European oak casks that previously held Bordeaux red wine. It is unfiltered and bottled at natural colour. The nose brings orchard fruit, apple blossom and vanilla sponge, with cut grass, buttered toffee and wood spice. Poached pear, baked apple, toffee and dark chocolate chip cookies come through on the palate, with ginger and toasted almonds. The finish is long, with cinnamon butter, praline and gentle oak.
