Colonel E.H. Taylor 18 Year Marriage is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, in a 75cl bottle supplied with a cylindrical tube.
It marries three bourbons, each aged for 18 years: two made with different rye recipes and one wheated. The rye mashbills bring structure, spice and depth, while the wheated bourbon adds a soft, caramel-forward roundness.
The nose is vanilla butter cake, warm caramel and complex spice. On the palate, caramel and cinnamon build into toasted oak and a spearmint note. The finish is long, with toasted oak, cinnamon and spearmint fading to a warm, dry close.
