Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. Amaranth Grain of the Gods (75cl)

Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. Amaranth is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, in a 75cl bottle. It is the most experimental release in the Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. line. Amaranth, an ancient grain revered by the Aztecs, is used here as the flavouring grain in place of the usual rye or wheat, a first for a Buffalo Trace bourbon. The bourbon is rich amber with a copper glow and comes in the line's cylinder and tube packaging. The nose brings butterscotch, spearmint, baking spice and a subtle nuttiness. On the palate are pecans, dark berries, vanilla and a warm grain sweetness, and the long finish carries dark fruit, baking spice and nutty warmth.
