The whisky spent 18 years in oak before the finish, which adds dark fruit and molasses notes to Laphroaig's peat character.
On the nose, peat smoke and sea salt mingle with dates, dark chocolate and sweet sherry. The palate is smoky bacon, raisin and treacle with oak spice, espresso and maritime brine. The finish is long, with peat and PX sweetness fading together.
