Eagle Rare 17 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, and the 2015 annual release in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It was matured for 17 years in new charred American oak and is bottled uncut and unfiltered, in a 750ml bottle.
The barrels were chosen by the master distiller for that year's release, so the proof and character belong to 2015.
The nose is sarsaparilla and dry oak. The palate brings aged leather, smoke, herbs and a honey sweetness beneath mature oak, and the finish is long and dry, with oak and dried fruit.
