Eagle Rare 17 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort. This is the 2019 release, one of five annual bottlings in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, and it is released once a year in autumn.
It spent 17 years maturing in new charred oak and comes in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is almost wine-like, with almond, cigar box, cinnamon, dried fruit and deep barrel spice. The palate is delicate and dry at first, with leather, vanilla, tobacco and a grain sweetness that builds. The very long finish holds leather and toffee.
