El Tesoro's Mundial Collection partners with distillers from celebrated spirits houses. This third instalment is the collection's first reposado, aged nearly six months in Basil Hayden Toast oak barrels, with staves toasted and flash-charred before holding bourbon. El Tesoro has distilled at La Alteña in the Jalisco highlands for more than 80 years, and the operation remains family-run. The result is a marriage of tequila and bourbon-barrel character: cooked agave sweetness with warm cinnamon and caramelised richness reminiscent of crème brûlée, plus subtle char. Tasting notes include toasted oak, vanilla, sweet agave, caramelised sugar, subtle spice, marshmallow, fresh cherries, baked apple, apricot and brown sugar, with a long finish.
