Elements of Islay Lg12 Islay Single Malt (50cl, 55.4%)

Lg12 is a single malt from Lagavulin on Islay, released by the independent bottler Elixir Distillers in its Elements of Islay series. It is a limited edition, bottled at 55.4% without reduction or cold filtration, in a 50cl bottle. The whisky is a marriage of two ex-bourbon barrels filled in 2007 and matured for more than 14 years. Peat runs through the series, and here it shows as scented wood smoke with a floral accent. The nose is fresh, with smoked bacon, salted butter caramel and spices. The palate is full yet delicate, with dried beef, floral notes and smoky malted barley. The finish brings delicate smoke, clove and fine wood.
