This is a Laphroaig single malt released as LP11 in the Elements of Islay series from independent bottler Elixir Distillers. It is bottled at 52.2% ABV in a 50cl bottle.
The whisky was distilled in 2005 and matured for 15 years in ex-bourbon barrels, which built layers of smoky, medicinal sweetness.
The nose brings dates, molasses, coal smoke, charcoal, carbolic soap and caramelised onion sausages. On the palate come seaside barbecues, red apples, green vegetables, tomato sauce and burgers on the grill.
