This is a single barrel bottling from the Elmer T. Lee 40th Anniversary Edition, released by Buffalo Trace to mark forty years since Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon first appeared in 1986. It is bottled at 67.7% ABV (135.4 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It is the first uncut and unfiltered Elmer T. Lee, taken from the barrel without dilution or chill filtration. Each bottle in the release comes from its own barrel at natural strength. The release is noted for apricot, almond, vanilla, toasted coconut and honeysuckle on the nose. The palate is rich and chewy with a crème brûlée-like sweetness, and the finish is long, with toasted oak and baking spice.
