A single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 45% ABV, named after Elmer T. Lee, who began work at what is now Buffalo Trace Distillery in 1949 and went on to create Blanton's in 1984. This gold wax top version is a presentation variant of the standard Elmer T. Lee, marked by its gold wax seal.
It is made from the same high-rye Buffalo Trace mash bill as Blanton's.
The nose brings vanilla, sweet caramel, light berries, apricot and peach, with clove, old leather and a touch of oak. On the palate, maple syrup and caramel lead into vanilla and floral notes. The finish is long and sweet, with oak, tannin and burnt sugar.
