Enigma is a 14 year old Highland single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 2009 and bottled in February 2024 by Wm Cadenhead in a 70cl bottle at 53.9% ABV.
It was matured in a vatting of 65% refill Oloroso sherry butts and 35% refill bourbon hogsheads. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose is quirky, with bacon frazzles, vanilla custard, banana fritter and butterscotch mousse, alongside barley water and dried cranberry. The palate turns to burning embers, candle smoke and gorse bushes. The finish is long and rich, with thick syrup, almost treacle, damp hay, flint, nutmeg and gingerbread.
