FEW Spirits – American Whiskey (75cl, 46.5%)

This is a blended American whiskey from FEW Spirits of Evanston, Illinois, in a 75cl-style 750ml bottle at 46.5% ABV. The distillery makes it grain to glass, handling mashing, distillation and ageing in-house. Its distinguishing feature is the mix. The distilling team selected barrels of FEW's bourbon and rye and blended them with a cherrywood-smoked malt whiskey, a combination that sits outside the usual category rules. On the nose there is graham cracker and honey over barrel char, slate and graphite, with faint cherrywood smoke. The palate moves from graham cracker sweetness to rye spice, tart cherry, cinnamon and cloves. The finish is medium, with white pepper, honey and a trace of graphite.
