Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon is a wheated bourbon distilled and aged in the Texas Hill Country at Hye, Texas. This version comes in a 375ml boot flask at 47% ABV.
The mash bill is 74% Texas-grown corn, 15% red winter wheat and 11% malted barley. The distillery commissions barrels with extra-thick staves to cope with the Texas heat, which takes the angel's share to roughly 40%.
The nose is honeyed Golden Delicious apple with verbena, cut grass, saddle leather and cinnamon. The palate has orange and lemon sweets, pound cake and smoky baking spices. The finish is long, with smoky tobacco and then caramel apple, walnut and cinnamon.
