Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon is a straight bourbon distilled and aged in Hye, in the Texas Hill Country, bottled at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The mashbill is 74% Texas-grown corn, 15% red winter wheat and 11% malted barley, made by the sweet mash method rather than sour mash.
The distillery uses barrels as large as 59 gallons, and the Texas summer heat brings an angel's share of 13 to 15%.
The nose is sweet corn and butterscotch with baking spice, apple, honey and a hint of saddle leather. The palate begins corn-forward, then turns to pound cake, sugar cookies, orange hard candy and smoky spice. The finish is long, with tobacco, caramel apple, walnut, cinnamon, brown sugar and molasses.
