This is the 2016 release of George T. Stagg from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled uncut and unfiltered at 72.05% ABV (144.1 proof). That is the highest strength recorded for any George T. Stagg release in the series.
The nose is dark chocolate, brown sugar, caramel and rye spice, and a few drops of water open it further. The palate is intense, with chocolate, caramel, rye spice and the high-rye character of Buffalo Trace. The finish is very long, with dried cherry, cloves and smoke.
