George T. Stagg 2023 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, released as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It is bottled uncut and unfiltered at 135 proof, which is 67.5% ABV.
The bourbon is made from Buffalo Trace's high-rye mashbill. It is named after George T. Stagg, the Gilded Age distiller whose Frankfort facility became what is now Buffalo Trace.
The nose is dark chocolate, caramel, brown sugar and bold rye spice. The palate is powerful, with chocolate, caramel and rye spice, and well integrated for the strength. The finish is very long, with dried cherry, cloves and smoke.
