GlenAllachie 10 Year Old French Oak Finish is the second batch in the distillery's Virgin Oak Series, bottled at 48% ABV. The whisky first matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak (Quercus alba), then spent around 18 months in carefully chosen virgin oak casks.
The finishing casks are French oak (Quercus robur) from Haute-Garonne, near the Pyrenees. The fine-grained wood is air-dried for 15 months before it meets the spirit. It gives silky tannins and sweet spice and fruit notes to a golden-bronze malt that is described as subtle and earthy.
