GlenAllachie 10 Year Old French Virgin Oak is a Speyside single malt from Batch 2 of the Virgin Oak Series. It was first matured in American ex-bourbon oak, then finished for about 18 months in fresh French oak casks made from wood grown in the Haute-Garonne, near the Pyrenees. The staves were air-dried for 15 months. It is a limited edition marking Billy Walker's 50th year as a blender.
The nose brings orange peel and heather honey, with caramel, ripe orchard fruit and a touch of mocha. On the palate there is toffee, grapefruit and cinnamon, with silky tannins. The finish is long and soft, with ginger and cinnamon.
