GlenAllachie – 10 Year Old French Virgin Oak Finish Batch 2 (70cl, 48%)

This is a 10 year old single malt from GlenAllachie, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is Batch 2 of the distillery's Virgin Oak Series, and it is natural colour and non-chill-filtered. The whisky was first matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, then spent around 18 months in hogsheads made from French oak (Quercus Robur) from the Haute-Garonne region. That wood was air-dried for fifteen months before filling. The finishing period is said to have added silky tannins, sweet spices and fruit notes to a golden bronze, earthy malt.
