GlenAllachie – 10 Year Old Spanish Oak (70cl, 48%)

This is a 10 year old GlenAllachie single malt from the distillery's Virgin Oak Series, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It first matured in ex-bourbon barrels of American oak. It then spent around 18 months in virgin Spanish oak hogsheads, with the wood sourced from Galicia and Asturias and air dried for about 18 months before filling. The malt is mahogany in colour. The nose offers orchard fruits, baking spices, sticky toffee pudding, brown sugar, glazed cherries and citrus. On the palate are chocolate, coffee and heather honey, then pepper, ginger and molasses, with banana and sultanas on the finish.
