Glenallachie – 10 Year Old Spanish Virgin Oak (70cl, 48%)

A 10 year old Speyside single malt from Glenallachie, released in spring 2023 as the third edition in the distillery's Virgin Oak series. It is bottled at 48% without colouring or chill filtration, in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured first in ex-bourbon barrels, then spent 18 months in virgin Spanish oak casks with a medium toast and char. The official notes describe orchard fruits, baking spices and sticky toffee pudding on the nose, with brown sugar, glazed cherries and citrus. Chocolate, coffee and heather honey lead the palate, with pepper, ginger and molasses, and banana and sultanas in the finish.
