GlenAllachie – 10 Year Old Virgin Oak Series French Oak Finish

This is a 10 year old GlenAllachie single malt, Batch Two of the distillery's Virgin Oak Series. It was first matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then spent roughly 18 months in virgin French oak hogsheads. The French oak is Quercus Robur from the Haute-Garonne region near the Pyrenees, air dried for 15 months before it was filled. It gives the whisky a golden bronze colour, with silky tannins, sweet spice and fruit notes. The malt is described as subtle and earthy.
