Batch 8 is the latest addition to the GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength series. Master distiller Billy Walker chose whisky matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez puncheons, together with casks of fresh oak and Rioja.
This Speyside single malt is bottled at 57.2% ABV, without added colouring and without chill-filtration. It is marked by dried fruit and nuttiness.
The nose is nutty and sherried, with dark caramelised sugar, allspice and dried raisins. On the palate come warm gingerbread, cacao nibs and ashy toffee with a touch of liquorice. The finish brings toasted spices and a hint of molasses.
