GlenAllachie – 12 Year Old Chinquapin Oak Finish (70cl, 48%)

This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from GlenAllachie's Virgin Oak Series, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in casks made from American Chinquapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii) from the northern Ozarks of Missouri. The wood was air-dried for almost four years and given a medium toast. The nose offers heather honey, butterscotch and orange peel with nutmeg and liquorice. On the palate come heather honey, barley sugar, toasted pastry and orange peel, followed by cinnamon, rosehip and liquorice.
