GlenAllachie – 15 Year Old Scottish Oak Finish Virgin Oak Series (48%)

This is a 15 year old GlenAllachie bottled at 48% ABV, the second batch in the distillery's Virgin Oak Series. The whisky first matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak, then spent about 18 months in virgin Scottish oak casks made from Quercus petraea grown on the Atlantic coast. The Scottish oak was air-dried for 36 months before it was toasted and charred to a medium level. The whisky is described as rich in vanilla and caramel, balanced with cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
