GlenAllachie – 19 Year Old Masters of Wood Ex-Solera Sherry Cask Matured (50%)

This is a 19 year old Speyside single malt from GlenAllachie, part of the Masters of Wood series overseen by master distiller Billy Walker. It matured in ex-solera sherry casks, wood that had spent more than 55 years in a traditional solera system before it held this whisky. It was bottled at 50% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose brings brandy-soaked plums, strong mocha and fresh honeycomb. On the palate the texture is velvety, with plum syrup, dark molasses and heather honey, alongside black cherries and crystallised ginger. The finish is very long, with dark chocolate and walnut.
