Glenallachie – 2010/2024 14 Year Old Koval Bourbon Barrel #2470 (70cl, 62.4%)

A single cask Glenallachie from Speyside, distilled on 8 November 2010 and bottled on 5 December 2024 at a cask strength of 62.4%. It matured for 14 years in Koval bourbon barrel 2470, a 113-litre American white oak cask, and the 149 bottles are neither coloured nor chill-filtered. The nose offers creamy vanilla, cooked pear, sweet lemon and orange juice, with grilled honeycomb, mocha and almond butter. On the palate white pepper, ginger and aniseed come first, followed by herbal honey, burnt sugar, salted caramel and vanilla. A little water softens the heat and brings out the spice. The long finish has fresh wood shavings, spice and vanilla.
