GlenAllachie – 2012 9 Year Old Cuvee Cask Finish (48%)

This is the Cuvée Wine Cask Finish from GlenAllachie, a 9 year old released in 2023 as part of the Wine Cask Series created by Master Blender Billy Walker. It combines whisky matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels with whisky from European wine barriques from French and Italian regions. It is bottled at 48%, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring. The nose is orange blossom, espresso, maraschino cherries and honeysuckle, with candied stone fruits, hazelnuts, lavender and cinnamon. The palate brings dark chocolate, red currants and burnt coffee beans, then crystallised almonds, blackberries and orange zest, ending with ginger and liquorice.
