This is a 21 year old Speyside single malt from GlenAllachie, in a 70cl bottle at 49.2% ABV. Batch 5 is the first 21 year old to appear under the distillery's refreshed branding.
Master Distiller Billy Walker put it together from a small selection of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring.
The nose is rich with dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans and sultanas, with treacle, cinnamon and polished oak. On the palate come Christmas cake, cocoa, molasses and dark berries, with orange zest and toasted almonds. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruits, chocolate truffles and spiced oak.
