This is the fourth batch of GlenAllachie 30 Year Old, a Speyside single malt bottled in 2024 at a natural cask strength of 49.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Billy Walker chose the five sherry casks that make up the batch: three Pedro Ximénez and two Oloroso. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour, and it comes in a royal blue presentation box.
The nose combines dark chocolate, honeycomb and raisin butter with muscovado sugar, plum syrup and glazed almonds. The palate opens with strong cocoa, heather honey and chocolate raisins, before baking spices and molasses emerge. The finish is very long and warm, recalling Black Forest gateau, grape must, orchard fruit and ripe spice.
