This is Batch 4 of the GlenAllachie 30 Year Old, a Speyside single malt released in 2024 under Master Distiller Billy Walker. It was matured for three decades in a small selection of Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry puncheons, which gave the whisky its deep mahogany colour.
It is bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. The outturn is 2,000 bottles, each individually numbered.
The nose brings red fruit, raisins, cinnamon, roasted hazelnuts, old furniture polish and dark honey. The palate is full, soft and complex, with cocoa, mocha, figs, black tea, toffee and spicy oak. The finish is very long, with dark fruit, leather, a little smoke and bittersweet oak.
