GlenAllachie – 7 Year Old Hungarian Virgin Oak Batch 3 (48%)

GlenAllachie 7 Year Old is Batch 3 of the distillery's Virgin Oak Series, a single malt finished in Hungarian virgin oak (Quercus petraea) from the Zemplén forest in the mountains of northeastern Hungary. Master Distiller Billy Walker chose the slow-growing, tight-grained oak, and the barrels were toasted and charred before being filled. It is bottled at 48%, at natural colour and without chill filtration. The nose is butterscotch, citrus and milk chocolate, with cinnamon, raisins, orchard fruits and ginger. The palate has stewed spices with honey, treacle, orange zest and a hint of cloves.
