GlenAllachie – 8 Year Old Scottish Oak Finish (70cl, 48%)

This is GlenAllachie 8 Year Old, a single malt given an additional maturation in casks made from Scottish Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea) from the Atlantic coast. It is bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Scottish oak is difficult to grow, mill and cooper, and it is rarely used for maturing whisky. The wood was air dried for 36 months before being toasted and charred to a medium level. The colour is golden sunset. The nose has baked oats, butterscotch, toffee, cinnamon and heather honey. The palate brings heather honey, orchard fruits and lemon zest, then white chocolate, cinnamon and ginger, with toffee and butterscotch on the finish.
