GlenAllachie – 8 Year Old Scottish Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 48%)

This is an 8 year old single malt from GlenAllachie, part of its Virgin Oak Series, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was first matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then spent about 18 months in virgin casks made from Scottish sessile oak from the Atlantic coast. The wood was air dried for 36 months, then toasted and charred to a medium level. The nose has baked oats, butterscotch and toffee with cinnamon, gingersnaps and heather honey. On the palate are heather honey, orchard fruits and lemon zest, then white chocolate, cinnamon and ginger. Toffee and butterscotch carry through the finish.
