An 8 year old Speyside single malt from Glenallachie, released in spring 2023 as part of the third batch of the distillery's Virgin Oak Series. It is a limited edition in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV.
The whisky began its maturation in ex-bourbon barrels, then spent 18 months in virgin casks made from Scottish Sessile oak (Quercus petraea) with a medium toast and char. Scottish oak is used only rarely for maturing whisky.
The colour is golden. The nose brings baked oats, butterscotch and toffee, with cinnamon, gingersnaps and heather honey. On the palate, heather honey, orchard fruits and lemon zest lead to white chocolate, cinnamon and ginger. Toffee and butterscotch stay on the finish.
