This is a 9 year old single malt from GlenAllachie, distilled in 2012 and bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the distillery's Wine Cask Series, created by Master Blender Billy Walker.
The spirit was first matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, then moved into European wine barriques. Four wine cask finishes, from Bordeaux, Languedoc and Valpolicella, were blended into this one expression, in the manner of a wine cuvee.
The nose brings orange blossom, espresso, maraschino cherries and honeysuckle. On the palate there is dark chocolate, redcurrants and burnt coffee beans, with ginger and liquorice in the finish.
