GlenAllachie – 9 Year Old Amontillado Sherry Cask Finish (70cl)

A 9 year old single malt from GlenAllachie, finished in hogsheads that previously held Amontillado sherry. It comes in a 70cl bottle. Amontillado starts out as Fino sherry and then ages further without its layer of flor. That oxidative stage gives the wine a deeper colour and a sturdier character, which the hogsheads pass on to the whisky. It is described as full of dark cherries, toasted hazelnuts and caramel sauce.
