This is a 9 year old single malt Scotch from GlenAllachie, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. Master Distiller Billy Walker matured the whisky first in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then moved it into wine barriques for a second maturation. Four wine finishes are blended together: Languedoc, Recioto della Valpolicella and barriques from two Premier Cru Classé chateaux.
Golden bronze in colour, the nose offers orange blossom, espresso, maraschino cherries and honeysuckle, with candied stone fruits, hazelnuts, lavender and cinnamon. The palate brings dark chocolate, red currants and burnt coffee beans, then crystallised almonds, blackberries and orange zest. Ginger and liquorice appear on the finish.
