This is Glenallachie 9 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish, a limited edition Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle at 48%. It was launched in April 2024 as part of the distillery's Wood Collection.
It belongs to the first group of three Wood Collection releases, each finished in a different type of sherry cask. The other two were finished in Fino and Amontillado casks. This one is bottled without colouring or chill filtration.
The tasting notes give a nose of heather honey, mocha and dried apricots, with cinnamon butter, red velvet cake and marzipan. The palate moves from dark chocolate, honeycomb and butterscotch to dried red berries, ginger, damsons, poached apples and muscovado sugar.
