GlenAllachie – Masters of Wood 19 Year Old Ex-Solera Sherry Cask (70cl, 50%)

This 19 year old Speyside single malt is the second release in the GlenAllachie Masters of Wood series, created by Master Distiller Billy Walker. It is a limited edition bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky spent its early years in a first-fill American oak ex-bourbon cask. It was then moved to a rare ex-solera cask that had held Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry for over 55 years in a traditional Spanish solera system. The nose offers brandied plum, intense mocha, honeycomb, caramel snaps, molasses tart and rich cocoa. On the palate come plum syrup, treacle and warmed heather honey, then black cherries, mocha and orchard fruits, with crystallised cinnamon and ginger.
